Summary:

This dissertation studies how talent is allocated in key institutional domains such as education, labour markets, migration, and political elections. It consists of four self-contained chapters that examine the incentives and constraints shaping access to opportunities. Each chapter focusses on how individual characteristics interact with institutional rules and decisions to determine economic and social outcomes. Together, the studies provide new evidence and theoretical insight into how societies can design institutions that more effectively identify, allocate, and reward talent.
