My PhD study is part of the project SAFIR – Family Talk where we investigate a family-based preventive intervention for families affected by parental mental illness. Family Talk combines short-term family therapy and psychoeducation concerning the parent’s mental illness. The principle is to promote resilience factors and reduce risk factors for mental illness for the child by intervention with the whole family.

The project will provide data from a randomized controlled trial and pioneering work on introducing a family perspective in adult psychiatric services. Thus, the project will generate the basis for the implementation of a family-based intervention in adult psychiatry in Denmark and prospectively other countries.

The PhD project is supervised by Associate Professor Anne Ranning.
