TeamViewer - Remote Support over the Internet

Table of content

Overview

With TeamViewer the IT-Office can remotely control any PC anywhere on the Internet, as if we were sitting right in front of it - even through firewalls. All TeamViewer connections are encrypted and are protected against any unauthorized access, which means that nobody will be able to invisibly control the PC. Teamviewer is for example, suitable for a scenario where you need ad-hoc remote support when sitting at home or in a foreign country.

All you have to do is start a small application, which does not even require installation or administrative rights, and then provide us with the displayed ID and session Password. The ID is equivalent to a phone number, which always will stay the same.

By default TeamViewer generates a new session password that changes whenever you start it to provide additional security against unauthorized access. Your computer is only reachable for persons you have given the password. Since the password changes with each start, a person that has connected to your PC before is not able to connect again until you give them your new password. So nobody can get permanent control over your PC. If you quit TeamViewer your computer is no longer reachable.

2. Once you have downloaded and saved the application, double-click the TeamViewerQS.exe file.

3. Sometimes, a Open File - Security Warning box will appear - just click Run

4. Sometimes also a F-Secure - System modification attempt warning box will appear - just choose I trust the program. Let it continue and then click OK or Accept (depending on the F-Secure version)

5. Wait a moment for the session to be created. When the session is ready , you will find a 9-digit ID and a 4-digit Password (in Danish: Adgangskode) inside two square boxes. Inform the IT-Office about your ID and password.

6. The IT-Office will then use the ID and Password to establish a remote connection to your computer. This will enable us to control your computer as if we were sitting in front of it.

7. When a connection has been established a small window (TeamViewer server control window) will pop-up in the lower right hand corner of your screen (the system tray), which among several options, offers the ability to quit the current connection.
